Grand Opening of the Township Development Project at Wayamba University, Kuliyapitiya
The Township Development Project at Wayamba University, Kuliyapitiya, was ceremoniously declared open on the 14th of July 2025 by the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad. The event was held in the presence of the Saudi Ambassador, Khalid Humoud Al-Kahtani, the Deputy Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament, Dr. Rizwie Salih, and other distinguished guests.
The project was constructed by Central Engineering Services (Pvt) Ltd and was funded by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Township Development Project comprises a Library Complex, Business Center, Academic Staff Quarters, Non-Academic Staff Quarters, Executive Staff Quarters, Circuit Bungalow (VC Lodge), Township Facility Center, External Ancillary Buildings, enabling works, road works, landscaping, furniture, and the development of a Public Square.
The occasion was graced by Eng. A.P. Jayatissa, Chairman of CESL and CECB; Eng. Anura Semasinghe, Chief Executive Officer of CESL; Eng. M.N. Gunasena, Chief Operations Engineer (Central Province) of CESL; Eng. D. Ilanka Anton, Senior Operations Engineer (Central Province II) of CESL; along with engineers and heads of CESL Central Province.
